How to Input Teacher Assessments and Test Scores

Select the stage you need to input statutory assessment data into via the drop down box.  The following page will load automatically. You will have the ability to choose multiple assessment components by holding the ctrl key (for Mac computers hold your cmd key) whilst selecting. You will not need to alter the date or year of results unless you are reporting historically.  Within the 'Assessment Components(s)' window are the 2018 SATS components however if you need the older 2015 versions for any reason, then they are available by scrolling down through the list.

Current TA components are listed in orange and current test components are listed in green.

Next choose the curriculum year you will be entering the data for, e.g. if entering teacher assessments for KS1, select year 2. Click the choose button to produce a table of student names and drop-down boxes to enter marks.

Each column header will display the assessment component you are entering levels for. The drop-down box will provide the available mark types which correspond to that subject and component. Once you have entered your marks please ensure you save your data by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Inputting Data for Early Years

  • If you are using the early years markbook you will have the functionality to copy your ELG data (only ELG) over to the statutory assessments module using the the Copy Internal Assessments to Statutory EYF button (see image below).  This will only use ELG data recorded in CP6 of the Markbook.
  • To save time you also have the functionality to bulk fill all empty fields with ELG2 (Expected) using the Bulk fill all with no result to EXPECTED button.
  • If a student is not yet working at ELG in the markbook you will need to input ELG1 (Emerging - only input this through the statutory assessments module) as a result, unless you are unable to assess the student due to exceptional circumstances.
  • The following numbers are assigned to ELG 1 - Emerging 2 - Expected 3 - Exceeding.

Inputting Data for Phonics

  • You will only need to record the phonics mark in this module, the phonics outcome can not be calculated until the DfE has released the threshold figure on 25th June 2018.

Inputting Data for SEN

If you have a student who is SEN and working below a national curriculum level you will need to input your data under the section in the key stage drop down called ‘P-Scale Assessment for SEN children’.

P scales are statutory for pupils with SEND who are working below the interim pre-key stage standards defined for KS1 and KS2.

BLW must be submitted with the corresponding P scales or NOTSEN if a pupil is working below the standard of the interim pre-key stage standard for English writing, English reading and mathematics. There is no BLW code for science. If a pupil with SEND is working at P scales for science then they must be submitted as HNM and corresponding P scales must also be submitted.

Exporting your statutory assessments in CTF format

Once you have finished your data entry you will need to produce a CTF file to send to your Local Authority and/or the NCA Tools website. To produce the CTF you will need to access the CTF exporter which is located in Admin > Students > Export CTF.  There are ready made options for the different key stages.

You are then able to upload your CTF to the appropriate resource which is dependent upon the type of data return.

For more information on how to export your data please click here.
