In order for students to flag as EAL you will need to set an EAL Step. To do this, navigate to the extended tab of the student's profile and scroll down to the "Support Information" section. In this section you need to set a step in the "EAL Steps (Official)" field. It doesn't matter what step you input as these steps are not collected by the DfE so as long as a step is entered the student will then flag as EAL and have the E aspect assigned.
