Creating Reports in Simple Assessments

Simple Assessment Reporting

ScholarPack's Simple Assessment reporting allows schools to rapidly get the information they need. From tracking large cohorts to specific groups or individual students, Simple Assessment reporting gives schools the tools to stay up to date on where pupils are and where they are heading. Our suite of reports pull in personalised assessments exactly how schools want them and here is how to run just a few.

  • The Attainment Report
  • The Progress Report
  • The Pivot Report
  • Teacher Assessment to Target Comparison
  • Teacher Assessment to Standardised Test Comparison
  • Analysing Progress in Pivot Report

The Attainment Report

Attainment - The Benefits

Reporting on pupil attainment needs to be simple. From whole cohort trends to drilling down into individual pupils, using our Attainment report you can see at a glance how pupils are performing across the board. Configured exactly to how your customised markbooks are tailored just right for your school.

How to:

To access the attainment report go to Reporting > New Reports > Attainment.

The attainment report was designed to show you how pupils are doing in relation to age related expectations and attainment levels.

At the top of the report you will see several filters to choose from;

In this example the filters that are chosen are;

  • Assessment - Point in time teacher judgement
  • Subject - Mathematics
  • Year - 1
  • At - Autumn 23/24

Choose your selections, upon choosing your checkpoint the report will automatically load.

The first table that appears shows you how many children in total you are viewing the report for, and how many children fall into each attainment reporting band, in this case it is Below, At,  Above & Well Above. The numbers below each band indicates how many children fall into that band.

By clicking on the numbers in the band a pop up box containing student names will then appear.

At the top of the report you will see the ‘view as’ button, you can select which format you wish to view the report in. 100602.jpg

Summary Table

The summary table is what the report automatically loads into as shown in the previous image.

Filters and Groupings

Each one of our reports gives you the ability to filter and group by;

101947.jpg

You can filter and group by a range of different things;

  • Form
  • Gender
  • EAL
  • FSM
  • SEN
  • Pupil Premium
  • Season born

When you filter a report it will only show the pupils that fall within the parameters you have selected. Whereas if you group pupils, it will split the report up into what you have chosen. The below example shows a report that is grouped by Gender.

Export

You can export any of the reports out in ScholarPack Simple Assessment. If you have customised a report, it will export or print in the format you currently have.

You will find the ‘Export’ button at the top of the report.

102336.jpg

You can then choose how you would like to export the report.

The Progress Report

Progress - The Benefits

The Progress Report will allow you to quickly and easily identify how every student in school is progressing on a personal level as well as running reports across the school to identify trends. Simply select the students you want to show, select a point in time and then run the report.

How To:

Head to Reporting > New Reports > Progress report

102621.jpg

Firstly Select the assessment type you wish to look at (View), and which subject you require (For).

Then pick the year groups you would like to include.

And finally the two assessment points you wish to compare progress between (From and To).

102912.jpg

This will run the report in the summary table view which will allow you to quickly see how many pupils have made expected, accelerated and less progress than desired. (You can modify the terms for progress when setting up the markbooks: Click here for more info)

Clicking into the figures in this report gives you a list of the student names in that cohort, and you can export this to PDF or Excel using the ‘Export’ button.

To drill down further into the data you can apply any amount of filters or groupings on the right hand side of the report. For example when you initially run this report it will show all selected pupils as one cohort, but to see these split into their different year groups simply choose ‘Year’ in the ‘Groups’ section on the right hand side.

103730.jpg

You can also toggle showing column totals, percentages and student names in this view.

103914.jpg

There are two other versions of the table which will show the information in different ways. Click the ‘View as’ drop down to switch between the Summary Table, Summary Chart and Student List report.

Summary Chart

104111.jpg

This version will show similar information to the Summary table, in chart form to allow for easier comparison of how each group is progressing against each other. To export this as a PDF or Jpeg just click the triple bar icon.

104239.jpg

Student List

This version of the report will allow you to clearly identify each individual student’s amount of progress. It will show them in individual rows with where they started and where they finished within the selected time frame as well as how much progress they have made. 104538.jpg

The Pivot Report

Pivot - The Benefits

Sometimes one set of marks doesn’t always give the full picture and our Pivot report was developed with this in mind. It enables you to compare two sets of assessments, cohorts or targets to get an accurate visual and statistical snapshot of pupil progress or attainment.

Teacher Assessment to Target Comparison

Knowing where your pupils are performing compared to their targets is a crucial aspect of the school overview. With the Pivot report you can choose any point in time to compare your pupils performance to their set target, be it End of Year or End of Key Stage.

How To:

Head to Reporting > New Reports > Pivot report

104807.jpg

Select which year groups you would like to run the report for in the ‘Year Group’ dropdown.

Then we select which rows you would like on the report. These will run from top to bottom on the left hand side of the report, and can be either the actual attainment data or the target.

Click ‘Select Rows’

Here you can select which assessment you want to look at, which subject, at which Checkpoint in time and whether you would like to see this by mark or by reporting band.

105121.jpg

Click ‘Save’ to continue.

Next click ‘Select Columns’

This time select ‘Assessment Targets’ in the ‘Based on’ section, and choose the assessment scheme and Subject you would like to compare.

Next select which target you would like to show on the report. You can choose End of Year targets or End of Key Stage targets from this academic year or look back at previous years if needed.

Click ‘Save’ to run this report.

105606.jpg

This will now show the grid of targets for End of Year/End of Key Stage depending one which is selected, compared to the Teacher Assessments.

From here you can click into each of the numbers to bring up a list of children in this cohort.

105846.jpg

On the main report use the tick boxes in the ‘Settings’ section on the right hand side to toggle student names, showing column totals and percentages.

110058.jpg
In the example above you can readily see percentages for students  ‘Working Above’, 'At' and 'Below'.

Teacher Assessment to Standardised Test Comparison

Standardised tests are a great way to show relative performance for individual pupils or pupil groups. Comparing these to Teacher Assessments allows schools to identify any gaps developing within the cohort and can give granular level shifts in performance within attainment bands - and here is how using our Pivot report.

How To:

Head into Reporting > New Reports > Pivot Report

Select the Year Groups you would like to look at in the dropdown list on the top left hand side.

Next select your assessment you would like to compare your tests to in the ‘Select Rows’ section, as well as the Subject, Checkpoint in time and whether you would like to view Marks or Bands.

Next, select the Standardised test you would like to view in columns of the reports by clicking ‘Select Columns’.

100210.jpg

Top Tip:

When looking at Standardised tests consider selecting ‘Show Marks By Band’ in the ‘Marks/Bands’ section. This will group the marks for a clearer view of the report (ie. Average, High Average etc).

Click ‘Save’ to run this report.

095741.jpg

Here you can view how children are recorded in their Teacher Assessments compared to the Standardised test scores.

Click into the numbers to view the pupil names and to export the list if needed.

100410.jpg

In the main report use the ‘Settings’ tick boxes on the right hand side to toggle Student Names, column totals and percentages.

Analysing Progress in Pivot Report

Head to Reporting > New Reports > Pivot report

102412.jpg

Select which year groups you would like to run the report for in the ‘Year Group’ dropdown.

105310.jpg

Then we select which rows you would like on the report. These will run from top to bottom on the left hand side of the report. For example this could be their attainment for the beginning of the year or perhaps what they got at the end of Year 2.

105516.jpg

Next select which columns you would like to compare against. To look at progress simply choose the same assessment scheme but enter a different Checkpoint in the dropdown menu.

105652.jpg

In the example below I am looking at progress for my teacher judgements in Maths between Autumn and Spring.

105830.jpg

You can then toggle the option on the right hand side of the screen to add a filter, show student names, show column totals and add in percentages.

So here I can see children who were ‘Below’ where they should be in Autumn have made progress as they are ‘Working At’ in Spring.
