What is required to participate in the Department for Education (DfE) Attendance API?

The Department for Education (DfE) will cease data collection using the DfE Attendance API on 27 May 2022. It was a pilot scheme which sent daily updates directly to the DfE with student attendance codes, to support the government's response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.  There was no individual or personal data sent using the API.

In March 2022 the DfE started an alternative voluntary data collection using Wonde. For further information please go to: Share your daily school attendance.

In Admin > Config > Data Consent your permission was given to participate in the DfE Attendance API scheme.

The View Sent Data link enabled you to see the data held in the API feed.  Once the API is switched off, it will not be possible to grant future consent, but the last data extraction will be visible via View Sent Data.
