Statutory Assessment 2021/22 FAQs

 

Are there any changes to Statutory Assessments in 2021/22?

  • The Phonics Screening Check was cancelled in June 2021 for students in Year 1. Those students, now in Year 2, will undertake a past version of the phonics screening check in the second half of the Autumn Term. Year 2 students who do not meet the expected standard in the Autumn 2021 check will be expected to take the statutory check in June 2022, alongside Year 1 students taking the Phonics Check for the first time.  For more information click here
  • The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) will be statutory for all Year 4 students registered at state-funded maintained schools, special schools or academies (including Free Schools) in England.
  • The Engagement Model (EM) will replace P scales 1-4 at the end of KS1 and KS2, and is a new assessment tool for students working below the standard of the national curriculum and not engaged in subject-specific study. 
  • The D code, used to record where a student was 'disapplied' from the national curriculum assessments, has been withdrawn for KS1 and KS2 teacher assessments.

The KS1 tests should be administered during May 2022.

Multiplication tables check (MTC)

Schools should administer the multiplication tables check within the 3 week period from Monday 6 June 2022.

Where do I enter Statutory Assessment?

All Statutory Assessment can be entered via Admin > Students > Statutory Assessment.  

Can Teachers enter Statutory Assessment?

Teachers can enter statutory assessment via Workspace > Statutory Assessment if this is set up via Admin > Config > Teacher Dashboard > Statutory Assessment - set this to “On”.

If we use Early Years Assessment on ScholarPack can the results be copied over?

In 2021/22 all schools will be using the Simple Assessment module to input their EYF assessment data. It will not be possible to copy the internal assessments to Statutory EYF (unlike the former STEPS assessment area), but you are able to bulk fill all students with expected (or 2), to enable you to then amend students who require a 1 or A.

From Academic year 2021/22, EYF Statutory Assessments only have the options for 1, 2 or A (there is no Exceeding mark).

2 - Expected

A - Would be used where a child:

-  has not been assessed due to long periods of absence, such as a prolonged illness

- has attended the provision for an insufficient amount of time for the teacher to make an adequate assessment before the profile submission deadline 

- has an exemption

(If Absent is applied it needs to be for all subjects, or none of them).

Can I print a blank table with student names for Teachers to record Statutory results?

If you go to Admin > Students > Statutory Assessment > select KS1 for example - then select the components required and change table format to blank grid, select the year group and choose.  Using the icons in the top right hand side you can then print or download this grid.  Once the results have been entered onto ScholarPack you can change the table format to grid with data to print off a copy of the results.

Engagement Model (EM)

This will become statutory from the 2021/22 academic year. It will apply to KS1 and KS2 students who are working below the standard of the national curriculum assessments and not engaged in subject-specific study, and will replace P scales 1-4. Schools must report to STA (Standards and Testing Agency) which students have been assessed using the Engagement Model when the student is at the end of KS1 or KS2. This is so that the DfE (Department for Education) is aware of how many students are not engaged in subject- specific study and where they are being educated. Multiplication Tables Check

The Multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for primary schools in the 2021/22 academic year. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether students can recall their times tables fluently. It will help schools identify students who have not yet mastered their times tables so that additional support can be provided. 

Schools must administer the MTC to all eligible Year 4 students between Monday 6 June and Friday 24 June. They are strongly encouraged to administer the check within the first two weeks of that check window.

Mark Options: A  score of 0-25 (out of 25 questions), or: 

A=Absent

B=Working below expectation

J=Just arrived in the school 

L=Left 

Q=Annulled 

U=Unable to access test

X=Not Received/missing data.

Schools can access the MTC service via the DfE Sign-in from 21 March 2022, and can download a partial CTF with their results from the MTC site after 27 June 2022.  The file is to be uploaded into ScholarPack at Admin > Students > Partial CTF Importer > Assessments.

How do I export the marks in a CTF?

Once your statutory results have been entered you are able to export a partial CTF to send this data.  To do this please go to Admin > Students > Export CTF > Partial CTF - then select either FSP (Foundation Stage Profile), Phonics, KS1 or KS2.  You would leave the Destination LEA and School number as it is and once generated please do not change the filename. How do I import KS2 data when it is returned?

When your KS2 results are returned in CTF format these can be imported as long as the filename has not been changed by going to Admin > Students > Partial CTF Importer > Assessments.  Please download the partial CTF from the Primary Assessment Gateway which includes the test data only. How do I report on statutory assessments?

To report on Statutory Assessments you would go to Reporting > Assessment > Statutory Assessment (tab)- here you will find Phonics, EYFS GLD 2021 reports, Multiplication Tests, KS1 and KS2 official results, plus the option to report to parents.
