Go to Admin > Students > Student Targets
In the STEPS Assessment module, Student Targets provides an area to input students targets for the end of the year and the end of the key stage.
Select a year and class and choose
You will note that prior to any target being set, it will default to reading E for Estimates of Ability (for End of Year (EOY) and End of Key Stage (EOKS)) and T for Aspirational Targets (for End of Year (EOY) and End of Key Stage (EOKS)). This lettering will demonstrate that targets have not yet been set.
Setting Individual Targets
To set a target for an individual student choose the cell that corresponds to both the student and subject you are setting a target for, and choose a target in the drop down menu.
If you have 'Link EOY/EOKS Target Changes' checked then changing an existing EOY target will change its corresponding EOKS target relative to it, and vice versa.
If you leave this option unchecked then you can change existing EOY targets without altering EOKS targets, and vice versa.
Below the tables are the following options.
How do the bulk-fill options work?
Please be aware that saving defaults will not be applied to the students who already have targets set.
Save defaults for all students above
Choosing this option will save defaults for both estimated and aspirational targets based upon age related expectations.
Set Targets with EOY Targets as:
This will set targets for both estimated and aspirational targets.
For example setting the EOY target for Year 1 Students to 2:1 will set EOKS targets to 3:1
Set Targets with EOKS Targets as:
This will set targets for both estimated and aspirational targets.
For example setting the EOKS target for Year 1 Students to 3:1 will set EOY targets to 2:1.
Set estimated targets based upon predictions
This will set both EOY and EOKS estimated targets for each student based upon predictions.
Estimated predictions are calculated from the highest mark that the student currently has. For example, if a student is in Year 5 and a 4:6 at checkpoint one, then their EOY target will be set to 5:5, and their EOKS target to 6:5.
Set aspirational targets based upon predictionseoks
This will set both EOY and EOKS estimated targets for each student based upon predictions.
Aspirational predictions are calculated from the highest mark that the student currently has plus one. For example, if a student is in Year 4 and a 4:3 at checkpoint two, then their EOY target will be set to 5:2 (4X2), and their EOKS target to 7:2.
To see the end of year predictions check the 'Show EOY Predictions' option.
